Tourism Information Officer (Summer Position)

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Tourism Information Officers will work at the Georgina Chamber of Commerce & Tourism Information Centre and oversee the Chamber's Pop-Up Events Booth and seasonal Tourism Kiosk locations.  They will attend events and set up displays at local businesses and attractions to help spread the word about everything local...businesses, upcoming events and tourism locations.  Acting as community ambassadors, the Officers will assist local and outside visitors with their travel needs and develop and promote local opportunities to attract visitors and enhance the cultural experience of local residents.  Working on our Discover Georgina Tourism Initiatives, they will review our tourism initiatives for current marketing practices and make suggestions to our team for improvements. 

Tourism Information Officers will develop and implement a marketing plan for the season, which includes a communication and social media plan for our organization.  They will create summer/tourism social media posts, create blogs and track visitors at events and kiosks.  In addition, they will monitor websites, update information and create new content. They will also actively communicate with local businesses to promote economic development and create shop local initiatives and awareness. 

Our Tourism Information Officers should be very community-oriented, interested in economic development, tourism and the shop/support local initiatives. Finding candidates who have these interests or who are pursuing a career in one of these paths will be essential to making the position successful.  Successful candidates will be required to work some evenings and most weekends (including long weekends) throughout the summer and be able to work at several locations throughout Georgina.  
Strong communication and customer service skills are an asset, as is access to a vehicle.
